The vineyard of Cassan
Our parcels are mainly around the enclosure of Cassan. The oldest Syrahs are sensely on the hill of Sainte-Marthe.
Preserving the environment of the Castle
The vineyard has restored to the Abbey-Castle of Cassan a unit landscape and assured the preservation of its direct environment. It blends to the natural elements of the landscape composed of forest on the Ste Marthe hills and St Hilaire, fences, garrigue parcels, of the Thongue edge.
The vineyard of Cassan concentrate, on a small area, a large number of geological situations, topography and sun expositions. The terroir his various, original and of quality. Specialist, winemaker or the hiker observe, each one, the numerous geological disruptions that this particular Hérault sector has experienced, trough this large variety of soils, of all ages and all origins. The Chateau-Abbaye de Cassan is likewise established between two volcanos (the Ste Marthe and St Hilaire hills), on which the basalt rocks ingrained the leaned vineyard.
The black grape planting is very characteristic of a Languedoc vineyard with a strong Syrah representation , and in a smaller manner of Grenache, Cinsault and other old Carignan vineyard carefully preserved and a small cabernet Sauvignon area.
